Brand New Soul

At 5:15 pm today, arrived my new niece!! Rayne Emma Dove at 9 lbs 3 oz 20.75 inches long. I can't wait to meet her this weekend.

My First layover in Baltimore. Actually that's not completely true just not one long enough to see the historic sights.

I finished this book today while working.  Yes, I'm one of those flight attendants who sits on long flights and reads BUT of course still pays attention to the passengers. Although I really need to stop reading books that make me cry while on flights. I'm sure its not very becoming when approaching my guests with bloodshot eyes.  Please read this book.  It offers insight that I'm sure most are unaware  of.

My apartment is filled with collectibles of scissors.  They come in various sizes and forms.  They would be K's collection (my roommate's) not mine. I think I have lived here long enough I stopped noticing they are everywhere but I really don't mind and in fact its kind of interesting. Mainly because I have never obtained an interest long enough of anything to amount to a collection. I have a lot of post cards I have collected in the past from a lot of different countries. I travel all the time to different places with work but have never picked up a postcard.  Maybe I should picking up a new collection.

This is the bridge I ran over. I wanted to display a visual.

accomplished

I completed the first 10k I have ever ran. It was quite the site to see 17,000 people racing in front of me from atop of the cooper bridge (although new bridge has new name).  My time was approximately 1 hr and 7 min. Not bad and considering I finished in the top 50 percent and it felt like I spent more of the time weaving in and out of people who were walking or running slower.  For me though its never about competing.... its about accomplishing what I have been preparing for and the feeling of accomplishing with thousands of people!
It was a weekend of fun in the sun. I always enjoy charleston and a few games of corn-hole with good company of course. I'm hoping to plan the trip to Dubai early next year to visit Y and J.
For now I'm still considering signing up for the chicago rock n roll half marathon in Aug (?!)

On her throne

Today is Spring Cleaning Day! Cleaning out the closest was overdue and more work needs to be done. I think Vanessa needs to come up to chicago to help me. Last time she went through my closet it was very productive. Here are some favorite pics of my short visit in San Antonio. See Flickr for more...  I miss the warm weather. Spring is slowly showing up here in Chicago but I'm ready for the full blown summer. Oh well.  Next weekend I'll be enjoying more warm weather on the beach in Charleston, South Carolina.

Birthday week

I got my first Birthday card today and I thought it was so cute I wanted to share.  I am completely wiped out from my 18 hr (flt time) three day trip I finished up today.
The most exciting part of the trip was when in flight a passenger called my attention to another passenger who was choking. I spent about a minute going through in my head the Heimlich maneuver, then when I reached the "choking" passenger all he was doing was coughing I then knew he wasn't actually choking. After few seconds he was finally able to speak and said he had just swallowed some juice down the wrong pipe.  whew.  I'm glad I didn't have to perform  the Heimlich maneuver!
The reward for such a tiring trip is that I have another week off! I am packing up and getting ready to spend a few days with Vanessa in San Antonio and I will also be spending my Birthday there as well! Yay! More relaxation in warm weather.

jetlag

I got to experience being stuck in the Anchorage airport for 40 hrs. I was determined to find a way out along with some other amazing people I met during that time.  I have spent the week catching up on sleep, getting back on track with the time zone, and of course daylight savings time. The most amazing part of the whole trip was the flight I actually got a seat on which made three stops on the way to Seattle. Cordova, Yakutak, and Juneau.  See extensive photo collection of Alaska at www.flickr.com/photos/35212767@N04/
